Happy Veterans’ Day!

November 11, 2012 at 6:20 PM 6 comments

Hang around me any length of time, and you’ll quickly learn that I’m a Daddy’s Girl (and proud of it!).

You’ll also learn that my Dad is a 23-year career Army man who fought in Korea and in Vietnam.

Today, on Veteran’s Day, I salute my Dad and all the men and women who unselfishly served in the Armed Forces and fought for our freedom and safety.

Thank you for your courage!

Join in the Fray: This week, make an effort to acknowledge, salute, or in some way appreciate a member of the military.

To start with, please thank your father for me…. the service he gave to his country is to be honored and it IS appreciated.

Thanks, I certainly will! I know hearing this will make him smile.

By the way, thank you for sharing the pic of your dad. He looks so good in his uniform… proud and strong…. we often take for granted those that sacrifice selflessly for our country. During the summer, there was a cool story on the Detroit Tigers broadcast. Justin Verlander – one of the best pitchers in baseball – bought a suite at the stadium. He can afford it…. But for every home game that HE is on the mound, he donates the suite to vets and active duty servicemen and service women and families. How cool is that? Those folks deserve every small gesture that we can bestow. Truly

This is one of my favorite photos of my Dad. I’ve used it before, but I love it! He graduated from high school at 16 (as I did) and went on to enlist. He was very proud to be in the Army and took his service very seriously. Anything pertaining to military issues is near and dear to his heart. That’s a wonderful story and a wonderful gesture! I honestly don’t think Americans can do too much for our Vets and active duty personnel.

I am grateful for their service…Freedom isn’t ‘free’!

So very true! I believe people in this country take so much for granted, and don’t really understand and recognize the level of sacrifice involved that enables us to live and enjoy life the way we do. Thanks for commenting!
